Black Turkish Marble Handcrafted Vessel Bathroom Sink Above Counter Vanity

This vessel sink is carved by hand from black marble quarried in Turkey and shaped into a gondola: a long bowl with curved ends that rise gently toward the rim. It measures 24 inches long, 14 inches wide and 7 inches high, and it sits on top of the vanity counter. The black stone is crossed by white linear veining, and the polished surface catches light from every side of the room. Each sink is sculpted individually, so the veining, its spacing and its direction differ from piece to piece, and the bowl that arrives will have a pattern of its own.

The polish brings the black marble to a high-gloss face that deepens the colour and makes the white veins stand out sharply. The gondola form has no hard corners: the long sides curve into the ends, and the inside of the bowl flows down to the drain in smooth lines. Without square corners, water has fewer places to sit, and the bowl is easier to keep clean than a sharp-edged rectangle. There is no overflow ring, which removes another crevice where water can collect against the stone. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal: one sink may carry dense white veining, another a few fine lines across a deeper black.

Generous basin, compact footprint

At 24 inches long and 14 inches wide, the gondola gives a generous washing area while keeping a narrow footprint on the counter, which helps in bathrooms where every inch of vanity matters. The 7 inch height leaves room to wash hands and faces without splashing over the rim. Black marble with white veining reads strongly against light walls, pale wood or a white stone top, and it holds its own in a dark, moody powder room. The 1.5 inch drain hole is a standard size for typical plumbing installations.

A flat counter and a tall faucet

This is an above-counter sink, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry a long bowl of solid marble. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 1.5 inch drain, and the sink is set in silicone. Because there is no overflow, choose a drain assembly made for sinks without one. The rim stands 7 inches above the counter, so the faucet must reach over it: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet set beside the bowl, or a wall-mounted spout centered over its length. Decide the faucet before the counter is cut so the drain and faucet holes line up.

Care

Black marble is a porous calcite stone, and acidic or abrasive products can etch or dull its polished surface. This sink arrives sealed, which helps against stains from toothpaste, soap and cosmetics, and how often it is resealed depends on how much it is used.
