Fluted Calacatta Gold, sized for small baths

This compact sink is handcrafted from solid Calacatta Gold marble quarried in Turkey. Golden, honey and gray veins run across a creamy white base, and each piece carries its own pattern, so no two sinks are the same. The outside is fluted, the whole sink is polished, and it measures 16 inches wide, 20 inches long and 6 inches high. It can be hung on the wall or set on top of a vanity.

Flutes that soften the edges

The fluted exterior is more than decoration. Its curved ridges replace sharp corners, which is where chips and cracks in stone usually start, and the rounded surfaces leave fewer places for debris to collect. Every interior and exterior surface is polished to a high gloss that brings out the depth and luminosity of the marble, and the golden veining catches the light along each flute. The style moves easily between traditional, transitional, contemporary and modern bathrooms. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal for natural marble.

Powder rooms and tight baths

At 16 by 20 inches, the sink fits powder rooms, guest baths and tight primary bathrooms where a statement piece makes sense but space is short. Mounted on the wall, it frees the floor below and makes a small room feel more open. Set on a vanity instead, it keeps the storage of a cabinet. The 1.5 inch drain opening takes typical bathroom drain fittings, and faucet holes can be drilled to order to match a specific fixture.

Wall or vanity, plan ahead

On the wall, the sink is carried on brackets, with a 1.5 inch bracket space underneath. Solid marble is heavy, so the wall needs blocking between the studs at the mounting height, added while the wall is open, and a wall-mounted faucet means the supply lines should be placed before the wall is closed. Above a vanity, the top must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the stone, and the sink is set in silicone over a drain hole cut to match. A professional installer is recommended in either case.

Care

Calacatta Gold is a porous calcite marble with a polished surface. Acidic liquids such as vinegar or lemon and harsh chemicals can etch the finish, and the stone is protected with a sealer. How often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
