Indigo Marble Tiles 2 3/4x5 1/2

Indigo Marble Tiles 2 3/4x5 1/2

$17.50

Marble tiles in Indigo, a blue stone, at 2 3/4 by 5 1/2 inches and three eighths thick. Sixty pieces per box cover 6.3 square feet, with moderate variation between them.

Blue out of the ground

Blue marble is unusual, and Indigo is a deep one. Variation is logged as moderate, so pieces differ noticeably from one another and none of them will match a photograph exactly. At this small format that difference works in the tile's favour, since sixty pieces in a box read as one textured field rather than as sixty individual pictures. The same colour is stocked as a textured 12x12 and an Ottoman Textile 12x24, which is where the stone gets a relief surface instead of a flat one.

  • Moderate variation Pieces differ visibly, so mix boxes as you lay.
  • Sixty a box 6.3 square feet at 0.11 per piece.

Shower walls

Shower walls is the rating recorded, with kitchen as the room listed. Kitchen wall tiles in a dark natural stone want a light grout if the pattern of the pieces is meant to show, and a dark one if the field should read as a single mass. Eleven boxes cover 60 square feet. Dry lay from several boxes first so the darker and lighter pieces spread evenly.

  • Eleven boxes 6.3 square feet each for 60 square feet.
  • Mix before setting Dry lay from several boxes to spread the variation.

Why we chose it

  • Rare colour Blue marble is not a common material.
  • Textured relatives A textured 12x12 and an Ottoman Textile 12x24 in Indigo.
  • Small format Sixty pieces read as texture rather than as pictures.

Care

Seal it after installation and reseal every one to two years. Keep to a pH neutral stone cleaner, and wipe acids off rather than leaving them, since lemon and vinegar etch marble.
