Rosso Levanto Fluted Red Marble Wall Mount Bathroom Sink With Backsplash

Rosso Levanto, fluted, with a backsplash

This wall-mount sink is carved from Rosso Levanto marble quarried in Turkey. The stone has a deep wine-red base splashed with white veining, and despite its cool, hard surface it reads as warm and soft to the eye. The sink measures 35 inches long, 18 inches wide and 8 inches high, with a fluted front and an 8 inch marble backsplash. Every piece is different, since no two blocks of this marble carry the same pattern of red and white.

Red marble with a fluted face

The front is fluted, carved into vertical channels that give the sink depth and an architectural character, and the colour of the stone shifts as light moves across the grooves. All surfaces, inside and out, are polished, which deepens the red and makes the white veins stand out sharply. The basin has curved edges that keep debris from collecting and make cleaning easier. Behind it, the 8 inch backsplash is cut from the same marble, so the wall above the basin is protected from splashes and the colour continues upward.

• Fluted front Vertical channels carved into the face of the sink.
• Marble backsplash An 8 inch backsplash in the same polished stone.

A floating sink with presence

Mounted on the wall, the sink floats above the floor. That leaves room for lighting underneath, makes the floor easier to clean, lets the sink be set at the height that suits the household, and makes a bathroom appear larger. The strong red works as the single bold element in a quiet room, against white, cream or gray walls, with brass, black or nickel fittings. A 1 inch bracket space underneath allows wall mounting at the chosen height, and the 1.5 inch drain hole fits standard bathroom plumbing.

• Size 35" L × 18" W × 8" H, with an 8" backsplash.
• Drain 1.5" drain hole for standard plumbing.

Back the wall before hanging

Solid marble is heavy, so a wall-mounted sink needs solid support. The wall should have blocking between the studs at the mounting height, added while the wall is open, and the sink hangs on brackets in the 1 inch space beneath it. Plan the faucet early: with the backsplash in place, a wall-mounted faucet above it or a faucet on the deck must be decided before the supply lines are roughed in. If the sink is set on a vanity instead, the top must be flat, level and strong. A professional installer is recommended.

Care

Rosso Levanto is a marble, and like all marble it is porous, so acids such as vinegar or lemon juice can etch the polished surface. Sealing is part of owning marble, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically at least once a year.
