The stone is a cool gray with bold veining, and because every sink is carved individually, each one carries its own pattern. It is solid marble from rim to base, with no seams to open up over time, and it can also sit on top of a vanity if a cabinet suits the room better.

A deep, honed gray basin

The surface is honed to a matte finish. Honing takes the shine off the marble and shows the grain and veining in a soft, even light, and a matte face shows fewer water spots and is less slippery when wet than a glossy one. The 10 inch height gives the sink real depth and a strong, architectural profile on the wall. The long 32 inch basin leaves plenty of room for daily washing. Plan the wall before it arrives

A block of marble this size is heavy, so a wall-mounted installation needs solid backing. Blocking between the studs at the mounting height is the usual approach, and it is easiest to add while the wall is open. The sink then hangs on brackets fixed into that blocking. If it will sit on a vanity instead, the top must be flat, level and strong enough for the stone, and the sink is set in silicone. Decide on the faucet early: a wall-mounted faucet needs its supply lines placed in the wall at the right height above the basin. A professional installer is recommended for the weight and so the drain and supply lines line up cleanly.

Care

Tundra Gray is a calcite marble with a honed surface, and like all marble it is a porous stone, so acidic liquids can etch it and toothpaste, soap and cosmetics can stain it if the stone is not sealed. How often it is resealed depends on how much the bathroom is used.
