This wall-mount vanity sink is carved from black marble quarried in Turkey. The stone is a deep black with bold veining, and natural colour variation and mineral formations make every sink different from the next. It measures 16 inches wide, 24 inches long and 7 inches high, a size that suits a powder room or a primary bath. The outside is fluted with vertical ribs, the basin inside is smooth, and the whole piece is cut from solid marble. It can hang on the wall or sit on top of a vanity, so the same sink works in an open, floating layout or on a cabinet.

Vertical flutes on black stone

The 7 inch high sides carry vertical ribbing that runs all the way around the exterior. The flutes catch light and throw thin shadows, which gives the black stone depth and dimension through the day. Against that texture, the edges are smooth and curved, with no corners where water can pool, which keeps daily cleaning simple. The finish is polished on the inside and the outside. Polishing gives the marble its classic glossy, reflective look and closes the surface of the stone more tightly than a matte finish, which helps it resist water absorption and dirt buildup. Black marble also hides water marks and light staining better than white or pale stone. Turkish marble is known for strong veining and rich colour, and moderate variation between sinks is normal, so the pattern of each piece will differ.

On the wall or on a vanity

Mounted on the wall, the sink keeps the bathroom visually open: the floor stays clear, and the space underneath makes a small room feel larger. Set on top of a vanity instead, it reads as a sculptural vessel with the flutes in full view. The sink has no pre-drilled faucet holes, which leaves the faucet position free: a wall-mounted spout above the basin, or a deck faucet on the vanity when it is used above-vanity. Matte black, brass and traditional bronze fittings all sit well against the polished black stone. The drain opening takes a standard 1.5 inch drain, so conventional fittings connect without adapters. In a classic bathroom with white walls the sink is the anchor of the room; in a darker scheme it blends into the stone and tile around it.

Plan the wall and supports

Solid marble is heavy, and a carved block of this size needs real support. For a wall-mount installation, the wall should have blocking between the studs at the mounting height, ideally added while the wall is open, and the sink hangs on brackets fixed into that blocking. If the sink sits on a vanity instead, the cabinet and top must be structurally sound and level, sometimes with added reinforcement, and the sink is set in silicone. In both cases the faucet location should be fixed early so the supply lines can be run to match. This is not a weekend DIY job: a professional stone installer ensures the weight is carried properly, the joints are water-tight, and the drain lines up cleanly.

Care

Toros Black is a calcite marble, a porous stone, so acidic products such as vinegar or lemon can etch the polished surface and dull the shine. Sealing slows staining, and how often it is reapplied depends on how much the sink is used.
