These 12x12x3/8" tiles offer a sophisticated black, glossy finish that brings a sense of purity and hygiene to any area they adorn. Crafted by skilled artisans in Fez, Morocco, each Zellige tile is a testament to centuries-old tradition, resulting in a perfectly imperfect product with unique variations in color, texture, and shape.

Unparalleled Craftsmanship and Unique Aesthetic

Unlike mass-produced tiles, authentic Zellige tiles are meticulously hand-molded, hand-cut, and hand-glazed, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. This artisanal process creates a distinct, rustic charm that sets them apart. The glossy finish beautifully reflects and scatters light, adding incredible depth and visual movement to your walls or floors, a quality often missed in photographs. You'll notice subtle shifts in tone and texture that change with the light throughout the day, bringing your space to life.

Installation and Maintenance Considerations

Due to their handmade nature, Zellige tiles have charming irregularities, including variations in size, shape, and thickness, as well as subtle pitting and hairline crackle in the glaze. This is precisely what makes them unique and authentically luxurious. For optimal results, it's recommended to hire an experienced tile installer who understands the nuances of Zellige. Before installation, blend tiles from several boxes to ensure an even distribution of their natural color variations. Soaking glazed Zellige tiles in room temperature water for 1-2 minutes before installation can help with adhesion. For wall installations, Zellige can be laid edge to edge or with a minimal 1/16" grout spacing, often appearing nearly grout-less. Back-buttering each tile with thin-set adhesive is recommended for better coverage and bonding. After installation, sealing the tiles is crucial, especially in wet or splash-prone areas like bathrooms and kitchens, to protect the porous clay body and make cleaning easier. Routine cleaning with a gentle, non-abrasive cleaner will help maintain their beauty for decades. Experience the unparalleled beauty and character of authentic Moroccan Zellige tiles. These 12x12 square mosaics (3/8" thick) are more than just a surface covering; they are a statement of artistry, culture, and timeless design.
